ABOUT OUR PLACE
OUR PLACE was established by the Salvation Army to break the cycle of homelessness by providing a program that meets educational and emotional needs of each family member. The Salvation Army day care program now serves approximately 46 children daily and 100 children annually. There is an ever-present waiting list of more families in need. While their children are enrolled in OUR PLACE, parents have the opportunity to work, time to seek permanent housing, attend school, volunteer in the center, receive counseling and more. Staff, parents and children work together to create a safe, stable, caring environment where children can grow and learn.
Sixty percent of OUR PLACE services are provided to Cambridge families, 20% to Somerville families and 20% to other communities including Waltham. Our goal is to donate at least $80,000 from the proceeds raised at our annual event to raise awareness of the unfortunate effects of homelessness. The funds will be donated shortly thereafter in an annual presentation at the daycare center. This year, we are committed to expanding and broadening our base of contributors throughout the public and private sectors.
For most of the past 20 years, CCR has been the major contributor to OUR PLACE. For each of the past four years, we have donated between $40,000 – $65,000. Our operating budget consists of monies to fund our endeavors. Virtually all of the proceeds from our fundraisers are donated directly to our charities. The Cambridge Community of Real Estate Professionals board members, honorary board members, and committee members donate their time, effort and financial support on a volunteer basis.
Please help us to help those in need. We thank you from our hearts for any contribution you make.
